How do artificial nails look? Is there any way to make them look natural on a man without polish?

They look real, but just wrong on a man.How do artificial nails look? Is there any way to make them look natural on a man without polish?
Why would a man need to wear arifical nails? Ew....if I saw that on a guy I'd probably laugh. Don't go there. How do artificial nails look? Is there any way to make them look natural on a man without polish?
There is this product Obey makes and it comes with a 3 step process that makes your nails soft and shiny. it comes with cream and a cuticle thing. tey to buy it @ www.obey.com
I dont think so, but if your nails are in bad shape go to a salon and ask for a ';no polish manicure';..... they'll just make what you naturally have look better
Artificial nails look like plastic. I've seen many girls with them. I don't think that they could be made to look natural on men without polish. If you want long nails just grow them like I do
absolutely not.

I am letting my natural nails grow out after having acrylic, how do I keep polish from chipping off.?

if your natural nails are very damaged..... first buff your nails so that you get all the ridges out then use a nail hardener and top coat.....that should help.....you need to wait until the damaged nail fully grows out....then things will get back to normal....I am letting my natural nails grow out after having acrylic, how do I keep polish from chipping off.?
Try a good clear coat. Nail Fitness is the best one I've used. It's not super-glossy and leaves your nails with a nice natural sheen. My manicurist also recommends massaging in a good cuticle cream a few times a day, plus cuticle oil.I am letting my natural nails grow out after having acrylic, how do I keep polish from chipping off.?
use a base coat before you polish
When I did that, I just kept applying Nailtek or Nailtiques - two thin coats a day to protect the nail surface. I also drank one envelope of Knox for Nails each day for two months. The sensitivity was the problem plus they were now so thin. I believe the KNox helped the new growth to be stronger. Good luck!
Good quality base coat, followed by two thin coats of the colour, then a good quality top coat.
STOP USING POLISH. Leave your nails alone for a while. A simple manicure at home is all you need to do. It should take several months before you see your own, natural healthy nails return.
You can still go get a manicure and ask them to let you sit under the gel light. Otherwise, just keep your bottle with you. There's a product called ';Out the Door'; that helps somewhat but it's gonna be NOTHING like it was with the acrylics. You'll need lots more touchups. Consider buying yourself a gel light... it's worth it if you like your manicure to stay right. . . without a thousand touchups.
ah, nails after acrylic is brutal! it took forever for me to get healthy nails back...but keeping nail polish on is a lot harder with natural nails because of the oil on them, ur best bet is to a base and top coat of clear with whatever color u chose between, any more layers than that is unecessary and will cause easier chipping, just be careful of what tasks you do that could damage your nails and you'll be fine, best of luck......

2 products i like and are fairly inexpensive are the mary kay base/top coat and the sally hansen products.
Put a clear coat on each day. Trust me it works!

I am trying to grow my natural nails out,how can I get the left over stain of polish off, tryed sandpaper?

NEVER use sandpaper on nails. They damage and weaken your nails (yes, this includes nail files too--too many have too harsh grit on them)

I'm assuming the left over stain is of a yellow variety and that it was left over by a very dark polish. A remedy I've found that works is to soak your nails in some hydrogen peroxide and then lightly scrub then with a nail brush.

In the meantime, to protect nails from getting stained again AND to strengthen them, apply a basecoat before you polish.I am trying to grow my natural nails out,how can I get the left over stain of polish off, tryed sandpaper?
I never knew that the bleaching product existed. I bought it and on one of my nails I got a very sharp pain but it didn't last more than a few minutes. It only helped a little but I will use it again in the future.

promise me you won't ever use sandpaper again!

try using the 3 step (or more) buffers where you SLIGHTLY get rid of the very top layer of your nail-using sandpaper will take away too much and make your nails weak. you really can't get rid of the stain, because the whole nail down to the bottom layer is stained, but they do have some bleaching products that aren't too expensive (only about $6), try using one of those. Don't use any nail polish-besides clear- because sun exposure will help ';bleach'; the nail back to it's original color

here's an example of the bleaching stuff : http://www.cosmeticbag.com/cgi-bin/cm.cgi?target=sos_bleach

Best of luck!
Try toothpaste, or hydrogen peroxide. If you can't get the stain out completely, use a tinted clear polish to cover it. When you use a dark polish again, make sure you put a clear coat on before you use the color coat.
Nail polish remover??

Is non - acetone.... polish Remover better for natural nails?

yes, its also better for you when you breathe in the fumes from the bottle, because most people dont know acetone is a substance used in cigarettes and is bad for you.

Will a UV topcoat and gel light dryer help keep polish on longer for natural nails ?

No, it just helps it to dry faster. The only way I found to get polish to last long is to use a Bonding agent such as Opi's Chip Skip or Bond Aid. These products remove exess oil on nail plate. Then use base coat, two layers of polish, and then a top coat.

Or you can get artificial nails. The polish lasts the longest on them. Will a UV topcoat and gel light dryer help keep polish on longer for natural nails ?
I think so it always works @ the salons longer than when I do it myself the regular way!

Why does my fingernail polish chip when I wear my nails natural but not when I apply acrylics(salon nails)?

I have been going natural with my nails for about 5 months but I still love my polishes but the only ';Bad'; thing is they chip like crazy I use sally hansen products %26amp; some OPI products, maybe I'm going with the wrong line of polishes, topcoats ect. Any suggestions or should I just get my acrylics (salon nails, tips) back?..Thanks for all the answersWhy does my fingernail polish chip when I wear my nails natural but not when I apply acrylics(salon nails)?
Nail polish adheres better to acrylic nails because of the chemical composition. There is no oiliness to acrylic nails, so the nail polish can stick better. As well, because they are so stiff, they also don't bend or flex, which keeps the seal of the nail polish undisturbed. Why does my fingernail polish chip when I wear my nails natural but not when I apply acrylics(salon nails)?
It's got something to do with the adhesion of the polish to the acrylics vs adhesion to natural nails. I have the same problem, and I don't think it's the brand of polish you use. You might try a base coat and an overcoat and see if that helps. I just always polished my nails every night - back in the day when I dressed for going to an office.
I think it's something they put on the nails at the salon? If you really wanna know, ask your local salon.
I'M NOT SURE BUT I BELIEVE THAT YOUR NATURAL NAILS REACT TO YOUR BODY TEMPETURE, AND THE FLOW OF BLOOD TO YOUR FINGERS. WHEREAS THOSE ACRYLIC NAILS STOP ANYTHING FROM EFFECTING YOUR NATURAL NAILS BECAUSE THEY ARE COVERED WITH THAT ACRYLIC AND CANNOT BREATH AS THE NATURAL NAIL DOES. SO FINGERNAIL POLISH CAN EASLY STAY ON AN ACRYLIC NAIL LONGER THAN THE NATURAL NAIL.
First, put on a good layer of adhesive (my nails always chip unless i do this) and LET IT DRY!! then, put on your nail polish in THIN coats, (use only three strokes if possible--one on the left, one in the middle, one on the right) and let each one completely AIR DRY before you put the next layer on. Then, when you have put on enough coats to get the right color, put on 2 layers of clear topcoat and let them air dry too. (Air drying helps them stay longer and it also makes them shinier) and don't pick at them.
get a good base coat. 2 coats of your color polish then a top coat let each coat DRY at least 15 min apart.
I think it is because the real nail is actually smoother on the top than the acrylic (or gel) Real nails also bend easier, and can cause a crack in the nail polish, then it chips and peels.

This might seem strange, but I actually lightly file the real nail to give it some grip, then apply polish.

I also found that the cheap nail polish you buy at the chemist works best - unfortunatly it has toluene in it.

Polish will stay on acrylics because they dont bend, and it is slightly pourus because it is not a natural product, and it is filed. It will wear on the ends if you type though...

I recommend Gel for you. You can get colours, and it doesnt come off!! Have you tried to buy a kit and learn to do it yourself?

Very dark polish on long natural nails?

My natural nails are long (just a bit longer than http://www.opi.com/opi/opistudio.aspx but the same shape, fair complexion), and lately I've been getting really into dark polish - OPI Russian Navy, OPI Vampire State Building, black, etc.

I just don't like how little stubby nails look and can't bear to cut mine down.

What do you think - anyone else out there wearing these colors on long nails?Very dark polish on long natural nails?
I totally understand. I love my nails long. I usually try to avoid dark colors when my nails are long. I personally prefer dark colors on shorter nails but honestly it is all about what you like.Very dark polish on long natural nails?
no way ......some dark colors are ok but not black!
I wear black on my long natural nails. It's the only color I'll do on my hands. I usually only color my toenails though.
no dark color on long nails......looks too much like a witch at Halloween
can u leave the house in the day light?

What colour nail polish should I wear? Pink or natural to a cocktail party with a white dress?

I'm going on a harbor cruise which is a cocktail dress code. I'm wearing a white dress above the knees. Now I'm wearing white because there's a really nice sweet guy there that I've been crushing on and off since I was 10, which makes the past 8 years. Now I want to give the impression of sweet, innocent type of girl that you would bring home to meet your mother. Now I don't know whether to wear natural or light pink because of the whole natural beauty look I'm going for or pink because I'll be accessorizing with light pink jewelry. What colour nail polish should I wear? Pink or natural to a cocktail party with a white dress?
A very light pink would probably be best. No sparkles, nothing; think the color of a pale pink pair of perfectly worn-in ballet slippers. Very light. But be SURE you have enough layers on of the polish to ensure you can't see through the polish!

Have fun on the cruise. And good luck with the guy!!!What colour nail polish should I wear? Pink or natural to a cocktail party with a white dress?
natural! you dont wanna be TOOO pink with everything including the accessories and stuff.
If I were you, I would wear a light pink , like a light coral. Nude color looks too plain. not fancy enough. casual. oh and have fun! ;)
First off, I know painting your nails makes you feel great. Heck, I do it too. But he isn't going to notice your nail polish, trust me.

I'd go with something light, like a pink or nude. Especially since you're on a boat; if you're using your hands to hold onto stuff, a dark color could chip and look unpolished (pardon the pun).

Have a great time and good luck!

Natural Nails with polish or Pink & White Acrylics?

I am getting my nails done today %26amp; am trying to decide whether to keep my natural nails %26amp; just have them polished or get pink %26amp; white acrylics. I love the look of both. When I try to look at what the trend is, I don't see anyone in the ';media'; with pink %26amp; white acrylics - is this too much of a ';fake'; look? But I do see a large amount of ';everyday'; women with the pink %26amp; whites when I am out %26amp; about. (I live in L.A., just fyi.)Natural Nails with polish or Pink %26amp; White Acrylics?
I have always wanted to go to L.A.! :) ok sorry Polished not acrylics too fake like u saidNatural Nails with polish or Pink %26amp; White Acrylics?
well depends on what's your upcoming events like if your going to a party, wedding, etc than you should get the pink and white acrylics if your working have school and stuff like that you should just get them polish well i just hope that you will figure out what you want :-)
I personally think that acrylic nails look tacky. If you want long nails, you should keep them healthy and grow them out yourself, but never let your nails get too long or you'll look like a witch.

Right now, short and polished nails are most popular.
Natural nails are better cause you don't look fake. Fake nails are overrated and celebs and models never have them, what does that tell you? I don't know either but I prefer natural.
My nails are natural but I did have a french manicure once

they paint the tips white %26amp; I thought it was really cool looking

natural color on the nails tho wearing any acrylics on the nails

doesn't let the nails breathe but its your choice
Pink and whites, Thin and small so they look all natural!!

    http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index;鈥?/a>
Acrylics look a bit nasty, only worth it if your nails are awful. If theyre ok, have them polished, acrylics are bad for your own nails.
I personally hate the feeling of acrylics so I'd just get mine polished but it's up to you...
i think that you should go with natural- acrylics have to get filled in every other week or so, and they hurt like hell to take off.
    Natural!!

Acrylics are sooo 5 years ago %26amp; yes; they just look fake and tacky.
Keep it natural, but get them French-tipped. It's a sexy look, IMO.
I would go with natural nails
    pink and whites
pink and whites look the best.
    oh just shoot me now

Organic and all natural Mommy's to be..do you use nail polish?

my former doctor told me it was fine but i don't go to them anymore because i didn't feel safe so im not going to listen to them on this lol. i know there are some safe for the environment types but is it still safe for baby. and then remover is that safe?

im probably not going to use it anyway but i was just wondering how others feel about it. thanks!Organic and all natural Mommy's to be..do you use nail polish?
Three-free polishes are completely safe because they don't have the chemicals like dbp, toulene, and formaldehyde that are harmful for the baby. Brands without these chemicals include OPI, Revlon, China Glaze, Essie, Maybelline, and Lippmann, among many other in the link below.

Here are some guides to healthier polish and the harmful chemicals that are not in them:

    http://www.alllacqueredup.com/2008/04/go鈥?/a>

    http://www.alllacqueredup.com/2007/05/bi鈥?/a>

I'm not sure about nail polisher remover, but I'm sure that there are some eco- and baby-friendly types out there.

As for non three-free polishes that are safe, I suppose that they're okay for the baby, especially if your doctor told you so, but not the best. I'd go ahead with three-free polishes just in case, because it's better to be safe.

Hope that helps! Congratulations btw. :)Organic and all natural Mommy's to be..do you use nail polish?
I am not sure about the remover, but it's certainly not gonna cause major damage unless you work at a nail salon. I would suggest holding back on the manis and the pedis while you are pregnant unless some one you know or a nice (super clean) place does it because you can get a very dangerous infection from tools that are not cleaned properly ( a common practice in many salons.) You can get some good nail polish at target that is earth friendly but I would stick to a light shade. Being a mom I know that no polish lasts long enough to still look good when you finally get the chance to redo it.

PS if you do decide to do a home pedi get a pedi egg. They are inexpensive (like 8 bucks) and do an awesome job.
i think its ok while i was pregnant.. i died my hair 2 or 3 times and did my nails at the salon every 2 or 3 weeks the whole time my daughter was in the over lol........... so yes don't worry about it

Guys do you prefer your girl with long fake nails with polish or short natural nails with polish?

Gotta go with short. those long ones look disgusting.Guys do you prefer your girl with long fake nails with polish or short natural nails with polish?
Short and natural with polishGuys do you prefer your girl with long fake nails with polish or short natural nails with polish?
I am a woman, but most guys I ask say real nails
    I would say real nails
Short natural ones. Long ones can scratch when she's jerking me.
Personally short real nails, with or without polish. Just as long as they are not bitten or dirty, I'm fine with them. Artificial nails have always looked slutty to me, and not in a good way.
I hate fake nails, they may look all perfect and all, but you can tell their fake, and it'll ruin your natural nails when you take them off, I prefer natural. :) Its easier also.
Here's an idea, long ones are more sexy (but hurt) so when you first meet a guy wear long ones and as you get to know him more, take 'em off!
short natural nails with polish because i want to know all the true facts about my girl
Short natural polished nails. Fake nails are weird.
guys don't care if they are polished or not as long as you have some real fingernails to scratch their backs
    natural nails
i dont rlly care at all but if i had to choose, ill say short natural nails with polish

What can I use to make a good natural homeopathic non-toxic nail polish remover?

It's a bad nail job---botched my polishing on almost all nails. Grrr. Looks like my bottle of polish remover is MIA. I cannot utilize ';paint thinner'; or other such toxic items. I have mild COPD, a skin condition that would NOT take kindly to using ';strange'; products, plus hypersensitivity to fumes due to Fibromyalgia. Anybody has ANY ideas, I would greatly appreciate it--I need this off within a couple hours because I have appointments all day. **ARGH**!! By the way-- am OUT of alcohol, I **think**. Sighs. Ideas anybody??? What about lemon juice??? Vinegar was a no go. Help! What can I use to make a good natural homeopathic non-toxic nail polish remover?
If you have clear nail polish, swipe a thick coat of that over a nail, then wipe it off with a cotton bud or tissue. It's not perfect, but it will remove most of it. Nail polish is a sort of enamel, and it won't come off with things like alcohol and vinegar, lemon juice, or other things of the sort. Use nail polish to dissolve it and wipe it off as best you can until you can get the non-acetone polish remover. What can I use to make a good natural homeopathic non-toxic nail polish remover?
I think you meant ';natural'; remover.

Homeopathic stuff is completely useless here.

I'd just use acetone. The stuff is pretty much harmless as long as you don't light it on fire on swallow it. Technically it's not ';natural'; but it's also harmless and effective so who really cares?
I don't know how you would make it but I have chemical sensitives (I also have fibro) also, here is a site that sales all kinds of chemical free nail products.

    www.greenfeet.com

I haven't ordered any of it yet but it looks awesome.
Nail polish remover is made from acetone. Anything that has acetone in it will work. Things like toner for photocopiers contain acetone.
    Alcohol and Glyserin....or just glyserin
Go to the health food store they sell non-acetone remover you know!
I don't have an answer but if you try photocopy toner please post a picture. lol!

I live in LA too. I suggest you keep your natural nails. If they are in good shape, then why put acrylic on them. It's pointless. Plus, when you get a great manicure and the polish looks good, people will always compliment you. No one is going to say ';hey great acrylics';. I have long natural nails and get regular manicures and keep my polish impecable (i'm a perfectionist) and I always get compliments. Stick your own beautiful nails :)Pink %26amp; White Acrylics or Natural Nails with polish?
natural. acrylics look fake, trashy, and also DESTROY your nails. they rip off several layers of the nail and it takes forever for your natural nail to grow back to its normal state.
natural nails polished, definitely. yes i think it is too much of a fake look, fake nails remind me of like pam anderson, and i doubt you want to be like her..
Haha my names Stephanie too. I just got mine with the pink and white acrylic and it looks good. You should try it. Just get them short. It really is long, but not freaky long. Hope this helps!:)
Don't go with what other people wear. Do what you want. Why don't you have them do a french manicure with your natural nails?

i would just paint them. acrylics r a pain!

it all depends on your skin color. go to a beauty supply store, one with maybe OPI products (i prefer their color choices) and put the color against the inside of your arm and see if the color washes you out or makes you glow. if it washes you out, don't bother. also OPI's light pinks and reds are really in right now and they go with just about anything!
it depends on the clothes although i nice pink or light pearl color would look nice!!!
I love Brown Choclate amd other bright color....But all depends upon ur Color also...if u are white with good height then its makes u something special.......

you can use what you have. Non acetone is only a concern for artificial nails because acetone melts acrylics and polymers. Either kind can go on natural nails.

I know this sounds weird but I have first hand experience with this. My little sister came home with this from a camp one year when we were younger. My mom's best friend... a vet, told my mom to have her bathe with a good flea shampoo (Mycodex is the name of the shampoo my sister used, it is an antiparasitic pet shampoo). It worked! You also need to wash your bedding with hot water and bleach, setting one of those bug foggers (bombs) in your house while nobody is home would be a good idea as well!Does any one know a really good natural home remedy for chigger bites treatment? seriously not bathing in bleach but my granny used to put a dab of bleach on each chigger bite

    it works
Itching, hives or welts, and skin redness can be relieved by following the usual treatments for these symptoms. These treatments basically involve the use of hydrocortisone creams or antihistamines. There are also commercially available products as specific treatments for chigger bites.

Time is the best treatment for chigger bite. The feeding tube is what creates a lot of the symptoms and it cannot be removed. However, eventually the body breaks down the skin tissue that forms the tube and the healing begins. This process can take from 10 days to three weeks.
Sometimes chigger-bites form little blisters, and way we treat our bites at that stage is a cotton square wipe with rubbing alcohol, rub the blister until it pops and then daub on some neosporin ointment and put a bandaid on it. Depending on how drastic a reaction you have to chigger bites [sometimes the ';itchy area'; gets as big as a silver dollar!] the alcohol soothes the area, safely pops the little blister, and voila, the itch goes away.
Squirt it with windex. Works like a charm.
tea tree oil for any kind of itchy bites works wonders.
yes a dab of bleach will do the trick and not hurt you.........also Vicks Vapo Rub works well ...... but you need to go to the drugstore and get a commercial over the counter preparation that you need to put all over..... If you just chase around the bites the eggs are in other places and will hatch tomorrow, also wash bedding in bleach every day.... these things can be nasty and spread to other members of the family........ get to the drug store asap
Chickweed is a common plant found in our back yards and is an excellent plant for all sorts of skin irritations.

Lavender and Tyme essential oils are also good.

Another plant that can be used that grows right in our back yard is Broad-leafed Plantain. Just crush the leaves and apply them direct to the skin.

For more info on herbal remedies and how to prepare them, you can visit http://www.self-healingexpressions.com
Camphor ie Campho phenic or something like that is the safest and most effective thing that I have found. The itching is actually the little critter has used an acid to dissolve your flesh (at the risk of sounding crude) but it's true and if you haven't scratched it raw yet then as has been suggested bleach will kill most anything. But the camphor has a little more of a soothing affect.
I've tried using banana peel. It is really good on mosquito bites, so I tried it on chiggers. Not a cure, but it helps enough to keep you from the funny farm. Just cut off the stem near the top of the banana and rub it on the bite.

Which is better acrylic or gel I want to get my natural nails done with a top coat heavier then nail polish!?

I was just at the nail salon this weekend and had that exact question. The lady said that the gel was better for people that are sensitive to chemicals. And she said that they do not use the drill tool thing for the gel nails like they do for the acrylics. I suggest getting the gels done, but I do know they cost a bit more.

Good Luck!Which is better acrylic or gel I want to get my natural nails done with a top coat heavier then nail polish!?
well u can definatly get a silk wrap if u want to keep ur natural nails and if u want to get them to be stronger but gel is good too personally i like my nails silk wrapped.Which is better acrylic or gel I want to get my natural nails done with a top coat heavier then nail polish!?
I don't use either. I use something called glaze. It is like a really thin acrylic, but your nails don't get beat up nearly as bad. I looks more natural, too.
i prefer acrylic. they last longer and in my opinon are stronger. I used to wear acrylic tips and worked as a painter, and prepper in the auto body business and had no problems keeping them on.
I'd go with the gel. It has a heavier coating (and it seems like thats what you want.)

  • How can I get nail polish to stay longer on natural nails?

I have nice well manicured natural finger nails, I keep them at what I consider to be a manageable length but find that the best I can do is keep them clean and buff them on a regular basis because nail polish just seems to lift and peel (almost like plastic) off my nails a day or two after I have them done.

It has been suggested to me that it is the natural oils in my nails that cause this problem, but if this is the case why are my toe nails different?

Can anyone recommend a way to make the polish adhere better?

I have tried the the Orly rubberized bonder base coat but it makes no real difference to how long the polish stays put.How can I get nail polish to stay longer on natural nails?
Typically, when your nail polish is lifting, it may be due to the oils, or due to the application method.

You can totally rule out the oil theory by using nail polish remover on your nails just before you put polish on to eliminate all the oils on your nail.

Does your nail polish lift in a certain style? Like always starts at the corners or always at the top edge? A lot of times, if when you are putting the polish on your nails, if you get too much at the base near the cuticle or too much at the top edge, it will end up chipping or lifting pretty quick. The trick is to get thin, even layers on your nail.

Will OPI Nail Polish Acrylic paint damage your natural nail?

I have a friend that is going to college to become a nail tech. %26amp; she wants to use me as one of her test dummies! She wants to paint my nails with this nail paint that REALY stinks! No kidding. My question is will it hurt my real nail if she applies something that says ANY of the following to my real (natural) nail will it hurt it or cause any damage?

    OPI Nail Lacquer

    OPI Acrylic nail Base coat

    Finger Paints nail color

    Creative nail design

I want her to get practice, but not if it is going to hurt me!!

Oh and how hard will it be to get this stuff off my nails %26amp; can you tell me what tea tree oil is?

20 minutes ago - 3 days left to answerWill OPI Nail Polish Acrylic paint damage your natural nail?
I really don't think it will damage it. All oils can do is repair cuticle. You don't have to worry because your nail is dead, so the nail itself does not need fancy oils or so-called vitamins and nutrients. They are GIMICKS. Your hand will only feel good while you are there so it is short term. Of course, you must not be abrasive with your cuticles or cut into them, then you could get an infection which could spread to under your nail, causing nail deformationWill OPI Nail Polish Acrylic paint damage your natural nail?
Nope it won't damage your nail, this polish has been out for awhile and is used by lots of nail techs and regular people.
it willnot damage your nails as long as she applies a base coat so your nails do not stain
It shouldn't hurt you at all. Just clean your nails copletely free from oils before doing your nails. Put on a clear base coat in order to protect your nails and don't layer on too much nail polish. Sally Hansen has ALOT of greta nail polish bases and lotions that you can apply to your hands, nails, and nail beds, to keep them protected from softening and from stains. You'll be fine. Look at the main ingredients and type them into wikipedia to see how they work on your nails. If you really dont trust it then tell her that it's too harsh for you. There are TONS of other nail polishes that she can choose from that will work just as well.
No, it won't hurt your nail at all.
No, it won't damage your nails. I've used that brand and it was fine--just make sure your friend uses 1-2 layers of clear basecoat, so that the color doesn't stain your nails yellow!!

You can buy nailpolish remover at your local drugstore for a few dollars, and then just apply with a cotton ball and it'll come right off.

Tea tree oil is good for clearing acne I think? It has some kind of medicinal value... haha. Sorry, not much help on that one.

Do you like women with long or short nails? Nail polish or natural?

    Long nails, natural.
    I like men.
    Long nails. French Manicure.
I like french tips slightly longer then my natural nail,

I learnt from my great grandmother that nails always reflect a persons hygiene and care for them self, if they're chipped and dirty.. the person is generally not clean.
not long or short. the nail should just be over the tip of the finger tip. a french manicure looks good with in-between lendth nails

I have natural nails and polish will start chipping within 24 hours. What is the best no-chip top coat?

There is a gel that you can put over it I think but I don't know where to find it and you can only get it off by buffing it off. I'm tired of waisting my time making my nails look nice only to see them peeling or chipping the next day.

Don't suggest I get acrylics either because I've had them for years and why should I waste the $ when my nails grow nice naturally.I have natural nails and polish will start chipping within 24 hours. What is the best no-chip top coat?
There's a good top coat called 'nail Xtras 3 in 1 top coat.' It acts as a top coat, nail hardener and base coat. As for the gel, I think you mean the stuff they use for false nails. That would be the ultimate top coat since it's super hard once dried, but you'd need to soak in acetone or something like that for at least 5 minutes to get it off. If you do go for that then be prepared to wear the same colour for a while. As for the 3 in 1 I mentioned, it works well and 1 coat should do it, unless you want to apply a base coat too.I have natural nails and polish will start chipping within 24 hours. What is the best no-chip top coat?
You should really use a base coat too. I really love Creative Stickey Base coat, and also I use Sally hansen's Megashine topcoat.

My nailpolish can last for 12days before it starts to chip.
Rough up or buff your nails before you put a color on your nails. Apply two coats of color and then a good top coat. Try OPI. They have some really nice colors and topcoats.

Um...You could try scratching it off

maybe use duct tape..Lay it across or around your fingers and rip it off..

    Maybe try rubbing alcohol...

Thats the best I can do, hope one of these ideas work.
Why cant you buy nail polish remover? Thats a bit ridiculous because these days they make removers which actually improve the health and condition of your nails rather than affect them!

But other than scratching it off then no dont think there is!
    Soap.

Or, get out of your comfort zone and try something called nail polish remover.
no the only thing i would say is nail polish remover but maybe rubbing alcohol works
I just pick it off. It peels off pretty easily.

Can nail polish damage the natural color of your nails?

it depends on the nail polish and color. It is best to apply a base coat before applying another color onto the nails. If the color was really dark in color like red, it will stain the nail bed a little. Can nail polish damage the natural color of your nails?
As long as you wear a base coat which also acts as a strengthner it should be fine. • Dark nail polish has left stains on my natural nails. Is there a way to remove the stains? ?

Not to bring anybody down, but don't soak your fingers in baking soda and peroxide. It will leave your cuticles gross.

If you're going to use that concoction, then just take it and dab it at your fingernails, rubbing gently at most.

I would just put a little bit of nail polish remover on each fingernail.

And next time, use ';BASE COAT CLEAR NAILPOLISH'; on your nails, before you put colour. :)

It presents it from turing that colour again. :)Dark nail polish has left stains on my natural nails. Is there a way to remove the stains? ?
To remove stains on the nail plate, buff gently with a soft nail buffer.

To prevent them, make sure you always use a clear base coat before applying any colour and always use a top coat to make it last longer.

What is the difference between those two types of polish remover?I accidentally got nail polish remover for artificial nails? Is it still ok to use for my natural nails?....?
It is still okay to use for your natural nails. The difference between those two types of nail polish remover is that nail polish removers for natural nails have acetone while nail polish removers for artificial nails don't have acetone but instead contain ethyl acetate or methyl ethyl keytone as their active ingredient because acetone can cause artificial nails to become brittle and lift.I accidentally got nail polish remover for artificial nails? Is it still ok to use for my natural nails?....?
You can use it on your natural nails :) The difference is the Acetone in the remover for your natural nails will eat at artificial nails and cause them to basically melt and fall off !
yea you can use it.....acetone is used to remove acrylic

  • Why does nail polish chip if painted on natural nails but don't on acrylic nails?

I have wore acrylic nails for 10 years and always kept them polished and they were fine for 2 weeks or more. I recently got a fungus on all my nails and they broke off really short. I have treated them for months now and they are now growing on their own and look really nice. I am not going to put acrylics back on but I am having problems with nail polish staying on for even two days without it chipping? I use base coat and top coat? What could be the problem? Thanks. Why does nail polish chip if painted on natural nails but don't on acrylic nails?
Because you have natural oils that come through the surface of your nails, you can't stop it. sorry. Try using a basecoat before the polish it may help for a few more days. Why does nail polish chip if painted on natural nails but don't on acrylic nails?
Apply the base coat first and let it dry thoroughly. Then apply a very thin layer of polish and let it dry. Next put another very thin layer of color and let it dry. Spray your nails with the instant nail polish dry stuff. Put clear polish over everything. Apply another layer of clear polish every day until you change colors.
I've never had any luck with polish staying on...either on acrylic or my natural nails. I would suggest asking the nail salon what brand of polish and top coat they used on your acrylic nails. Maybe the polish they used was a better quality.

Do anybody know whyfingernails turned yellow? is it because of nail polish damaged nail natural colour?

just recently everytime i removed my nail polish, i've noticed my finger nails became a bit yellow. But my toe nails are fine. did i damaged my nails becasue i put on nail polish too often? did anybody know how do i made my nail back to normal?Do anybody know whyfingernails turned yellow? is it because of nail polish damaged nail natural colour?
yes the color seeps into the nail. Use a base coat this should reduce the coloration. And sometimes just use clear only. I stopped using nail polish for a while so my nails would clear up, but when I do I always use a clear base coat. My nails are quite lovely lol. So try that!Do anybody know whyfingernails turned yellow? is it because of nail polish damaged nail natural colour?
usually happens cos u smoke???Wife says use clear varnish as a base coat as it helps strenghtin ur nails then apply the color sometimes over polishing and using remover causes this, because of all the chemicals in it that basically strip uir nails and weaken them.u could let ur nails breathe 4 a while try to choose the nail varnish remover pads they r less harsh also get a piece of tissue and dry the excess removal of so it doesnt sink in to ur nails goodluck lemon juice works wonders and is very natural goodluck
they turn yellow because of the polish ur always supposed to put a top coat on before any nail polish

    good luck
    Fingernails can turn yellow from smoking, however it may be because you are keeping your nails poished without letting them ';breathe.';

As for making the yellow go away:

Apply undiluted lemon juice or hydrogen peroxide to bare fingernails with a cotton ball or tissue. Allow the lemon juice or peroxide to remain on the nails until the yellow disappears. Repeat, as necessary
I agree with Jules F. But I would like to add that if you want to help prevent polish from staining your nails in the first place, then always use a good quality basecoat prior to applying any polish. Basecoat will form a barrier between your natural nails, and the polish while giving the polish something to adhere to. Thus, not only will you prevent your nails from discoloration, your polish will last longer, and not chip as easily.

Although there are other avaliable, the best on I have come across is a product called 'Stickey,' made by Creative Nail Design. Here is a picture of it and a short description too:

    http://www.cnd.com/Products/Product.aspx鈥?/a>
Do you use fake tan or tinted moisturiser, cos that could cause them o be discoloured.
Stain from nail polish - use base coat..

    Or..

Calcium deficiancy? - Eat/Drink plenty of protein rich foods.
yes its stains from the polish. use a base coat to prevent it.
Nail polish can stain the nails and discolor them, particularly if you wear darker/red shades (and especially if you skip base coat).

Try soaking your hands in a small dish with one tablet of Efferdent (the denture stuff) for 10-15min. If the discoloration is still stubborn use a small nail brush or toothbrush and give them a scrub in the solution. If it is still there I recommend giving your nails a break from polish for awhile.

Take special note of any new cleansers you may be using if you do not wear gloves when doing house work. These can affect your nails as well.

If your nails start to flake or break down or the discoloration does not go away or gets worse see your doctor. This could be a bacterial or fungal infection.

But it's likely just a stain.
Nail polish can stain, but it that exact same polish isn't staining your toe nails you may have a nail fungus... In that case you should see a doctor or pharmacist for some over the counter nail fungus removers.
yes. having nail polish on too long is very bad to your nails. you can use a base coat but you should still let your nails breath at least a week every once in a while if you wear nail polish alot.
You probably use to much nail polish and dont give your nails a chance to breathe. I suggest not putting on any nail polish for at least a month... see the diffrence.

Also to try and get the yellow off, you can lightly file the top of your nail ( like when yo uget your nails done they file the top) and then wash your hands and apply lotion.
dark coloured polish stains nails , use a base coat underneath dark polish , you could also opt for a french manicure or light polish , the staining will grow out naturally , and if you cant wait you could go to the salon for nail bleaching. it has nothing to do with how often you apply your polish , just that you use darker colours , hope this helps !
its normally from the nail polish you use and how long you keep it on. i used to get that all the time when i was really little because i didnt know how to take good care of my nails. For really good results you should put a base coat, then the color you choose and finally another clear coat for a nice seal. You should be very satisfied if done correctly. Hope it all works out.
Nails are very pourus so they will absorb some of the nail polish. Be sure to use a clear base coat as this will be a barrier between the nail polish and the nail. To get them back to normal soak your nails in some lemon juice for 2 mins then dry them and put some hand cream on. Hope this helps.

Is it ok to cleanse the natural nail with polish remover?

Doesn't make sense, as both base and top coats are to extend longevity of nail. Hmmm- you should cleanse the nail and soak it in water to get rid of nail polish remover on the nail.Is it ok to cleanse the natural nail with polish remover?
Nail polish remover is acetone and acetone strips the nail of it's natural oils. So using nail polish remover to CLEANSE a nail bed is a no-no. Using nail polish remover to remove nail color is fine. If your clients are complaining that their nail polish is coming off after two or three days I would suggest you check to see if the nail products are old or try another nail polish as the one you are currently using sounds like it may not be a quality product. If your base coat and top coat products are from the same company you may want to consider switching these over to something with a little bit better reputation. You may pay more for a better quality item but will keep your current clients and maybe receive more. Just remember you get back what you put out. Do unto others, etc... Have a great day. Is it ok to cleanse the natural nail with polish remover?
Every time I get a manicure, the manicurist uses nail polish remover to get any residual oils/products off my nails, then sends me to wash my hands. My manicures last a week - even with all the typing I do.
    You shouldn't do that.

Try giving a non-coloured top coat it could help.

What makes nail polish last longer on acrylic nails than on natural nails?

I don't wear tips but I do have acrylic on my nail bed. My friend on the other hand wears her nails natural. We've noticed my polish last longer than hers. Anyone know why? What makes nail polish last longer on acrylic nails than on natural nails?
The reason is actually pretty simple. Your nails take on harsher conditions when its in its natural state. Whether it be washing your hands or shampooing your hair, the foundation is not as durable as acrylic. Your nails have natural oils which part the nail lacquer from your nail bed and even when you dont sweat at all. When applying tips, you get a smooth yet porous surface of acrylic overlaying your nail, this makes this polish last longer because it doesnt come in contact with your nail bed. While the acrylic may lift from your nails, the polish will last up until your next fill-in.What makes nail polish last longer on acrylic nails than on natural nails?
I believe the answer to this is the simple fact that real nails have naturally occurring oils. Those oils encourage the nail enamel to come off.

Acrylic has no moisture at all and the nail color adheres to the acrylic without a problem.

I'm not a nail technician, but I'm thinking this is the right answer.
Natural nails bend and acrylics don't. When the polish is bent, it chips as it cannot bend with the nail.

I put nail polish on my nails and it starts to chip after 1 day. Any ideas? What is the best way to keep nail polish on natural nails?
Seal the polish in with a top coat and prep it with a base coat.

If you can apply two or three coats for coverage, stick with two.

Sometimes the polish gets too thick and almost peels off the nail. What is the best way to keep nail polish on natural nails?
File the top of the nail gently so that the polish can stick more. Put two coats and a clear topcoat on after that...
Use a base coat. I use O.P.I Chip Skip then i use Stickey base coat then polish. It stays a lot longer!
put sealer on under the polish then over it too.
put a base coat on under it and possibly a top coat on after that. Base coat and top coat are clear nailpolishes that help nailpolish stick.
Always use a base coat and a top coat and before you paint your nails with anything soak them in water and soap. make sure there clean and filed.

    good luck
